Starbucks's plan: Smaller cities, drive-thru stores

US coffee chain Starbucks plans to operate 1,000 stores in India by 2028 as the firm attempts to expand its footprint in one of its fastest-growing markets globally. The Seattle-based company, which operates in India through an equal joint venture with Tata Consumer Products, currently runs 390 outlets in the country. In a statement issued on Tuesday, the firm claimed that its store strategy for the market translates into one new store opening every three days.
