LIC beats industry with 94% premium growth in December
LIC grew its business by nearly 94% in December 2023, powered by a 194% jump in the group single premium business. The corporation's total premium rose to Rs 22,981 crore from Rs 11,859 crore a year ago, while its group single premium rose to Rs 17,601 crore from Rs 5,966 crore in December 2022. Single premium is typically received at one go as against regular premium. Starbucks's plan: Smaller cities, drive-thru stores
US coffee chain Starbucks plans to operate 1,000 stores in India by 2028 as the firm attempts to expand its footprint in one of its fastest-growing markets globally. The Seattle-based company, which operates in India through an equal joint venture with Tata Consumer Products, currently runs 390 outlets in the country. Zee denies report on Sony calling off merger, stock dives
Zee on Tuesday denied reports that said Sony was planning to call off the merger even as the stock price of the Indian media major crashed nearly 13% in early trades. Zee said it remained "committed to the merger and is continuing to work towards its successful closure", following the report that the $10-billion merger, which would create one of the largest broadcasting companies in the country, is on the brink of a cliff.
